I created this directory to make it easier for families in Detroit and surrounding communities to find Black and BIPOC midwives providing care in hospitals, birth centers and at home.

She became a Certified Nurse-Midwife in 2016 and has worked at Hutzel Women’s Hospital and the Detroit Health Department. Her work has included reproductive health, HIV prevention and education, and mentoring aspiring midwives. Natalie also helped establish Metro Detroit Midwives of Color, a professional network created to support minority midwives and address health disparities affecting women in Metro Detroit

That means preserving the past, but it also means documenting the people doing this work right now.
