Work With Me!

Bringing life into the world is a sacred dance of strength and tenderness, beauty and transformation entwined.

The transition to parenthood brings a mix of emotions, adjustments, and learning as you experience all the “firsts” of welcoming a baby. Pregnancy and birth can feel unpredictable, and it’s normal to feel uncertain or overwhelmed at times.

Your body and mind undergo profound changes, shaping a birthing experience that is unique and transformative (Matrescence). You don’t have to navigate this journey alone.

With supportive guidance and practical tools, you can approach pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood with confidence, reduce stress, and feel empowered to make informed choices that honor your values and your baby’s needs.

I’ll hold your hand through all the unknowns!

I am here to walk alongside you through the uncertainties of your journey, empowering your birth experience with compassion, wisdom, and unwavering support. I believe that every birth is a sacred rite, deserving of honor and acknowledgment. My commitment is to mindful birthing, ceremonial practices, and advocating for the rights of all birthing individuals, ensuring that you feel respected and empowered every step of the way.

Preserving Our Stories.

Protecting Our Future.

The Detroit Black Birth Archive is a community-led initiative dedicated to preserving the history, stories, and legacy of Black birth in Detroit.

For generations, Black midwives, nurses, physicians, doulas, childbirth educators, and families have shaped the way our communities welcomed new life. Their contributions deserve to be remembered, not just in textbooks, but in the stories we pass down and the history we leave behind.

The Archive exists to make sure those stories are not lost.

Through oral history interviews, historical research, community storytelling, traveling exhibits, and educational programming, we're documenting the people, places, and moments that have shaped Black birth in Detroit. Every interview, photograph, document, and birth story becomes part of a growing collection that future generations can learn from.

This isn't just about looking back.

It's about understanding where we've been so we can better shape where we're going.

Help Build Detroit's Black Birth History

The Detroit Black Birth Archive belongs to the community.

Whether you're a birth worker, healthcare professional, parent, historian, researcher, or someone with a family story to share, your experiences are part of Detroit's history.

We're currently seeking:

  • Oral history interviews with Black birth workers
  • Birth stories from Detroit families
  • Historic photographs and documents
  • Information about Black midwives, nurses, physicians, and community advocates
  • Partnerships with organizations committed to preserving Detroit's history

Together, we're creating a living archive that will educate, inspire, and serve our community for generations to come.

Support the Archive

The Detroit Black Birth Archive is made possible through community support. Your donations help preserve oral histories, create exhibits, digitize historical materials, and expand educational programming throughout Detroit.

Whether you share your story, volunteer your time, become a community partner, or make a donation, you're helping preserve a piece of Detroit's history that deserves to be remembered.

Because our birth stories were never meant to be forgotten.
