DISCLAIMER
Information provided on this website is for general educational and informational purposes. Nothing on this website should be considered medical, mental health, legal, financial, or other professional advice.
Information related to pregnancy, birth, postpartum care, maternal health, wellness, doula support, childbirth education, or community resources is not intended to replace care or advice from a licensed healthcare professional.

LAWFUL USE
You agree to use this website only for lawful purposes. You may not use the website in a way that violates another person's rights, infringes intellectual property rights, interferes with the operation of the website, attempts to gain unauthorized access to information or systems, or violates applicable laws.
You are responsible for purchases made by you or by someone authorized to act on your behalf.
DOWNLOADABLE AND EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS
This website may provide educational materials, handouts, guides, worksheets, birth resources, labor position materials, or other downloadable content.
Unless otherwise stated, these materials are provided for your personal use only.

Downloading or purchasing materials does not transfer ownership of the underlying intellectual property to you.
STORIES, PHOTOGRAPHS, OR OTHER MATERIALS YOU SUBMIT
You retain ownership of photographs, stories, written materials, recordings, documents, artwork, or other original materials you submit through this website. Submitting material through a general contact form, email form, or website form does not automatically give us permission to publicly publish, exhibit, reproduce, or distribute your personal story, photograph, oral history, or recording. When separate permission or a release is required for an interview, oral history, photograph, video, archival contribution, exhibition, or similar project, the terms of that specific release or permission agreement will control how the material may be used. You represent that you have the right to submit materials you provide and that doing so does not knowingly violate another person's copyright, privacy, publicity, or other legal rights.
DETROIT BLACK BIRTH ARCHIVE CONTRIBUTIONS
Materials submitted or recorded for the Detroit Black Birth Archive may include oral histories, birth stories, photographs, documents, interviews, recordings, and other historical or community materials. Participation in the Archive does not automatically transfer ownership of a participant's original materials to the Archive. Permission to record, preserve, publish, exhibit, reproduce, share, or otherwise use an Archive contribution will be governed by the applicable interview agreement, media release, donation agreement, permission form, or other written authorization provided for that contribution. The Detroit Black Birth Archive may preserve materials for historical, cultural, educational, research, exhibition, and community storytelling purposes when appropriate permission has been provided.
OUR INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
Unless otherwise stated, original content created for this website including text, graphics, educational materials, photographs, videos, designs, downloadable resources, branding, and other original materials—is owned by us or used with permission.
You may access website content for your personal use, but you may not reproduce, sell, republish, distribute, modify, or commercially exploit protected content without written permission. Content belonging to another person or organization remains the property of its respective owner.
THIRD-PARTY CONTENT AND LINKS
This website may contain links to third-party websites, organizations, healthcare providers, community resources, research, articles, videos, interviews, or other outside resources. Providing a link or resource does not necessarily mean that we endorse or control the third party. We are not responsible for the accuracy, availability, privacy practices, policies, services, or content of third-party websites. Guest interviews and community stories may also reflect the experiences, memories, perspectives, and opinions of the individual speaking. Their statements do not necessarily represent our views, and we cannot independently verify every statement contained in an interview or personal account.
