Present, Nurturing Care for Pregnancy, Birth, and Beyond

I help parents feel calm, confident, and supported as they move through pregnancy, birth, and early parenting.

With compassionate care and practical tools, I walk alongside you so you feel prepared, connected, and empowered every step of the way.

Pregnancy is a sacred journey, full of possibilities. Whether it’s your first or your tenth, it’s natural to feel waves of questions and emotions along the way.

Imagine having someone by your side—steady, compassionate, and knowledgeable—walking with you through this transformative time. As your doula, I offer physical, emotional, and informational support, meeting you where you are. Together, we’ll nurture your confidence and sense of empowerment, so you feel seen, supported, and understood throughout birth and beyond—no matter how your journey unfolds.”

Plant Parenthood Detroit

Growing Community, Nurturing Parents

Shekita Long is a community doula and advocate based in Livonia, MI, with a passion for reimagining how parents are supported—before, during, and after birth. As the Chapter Lead of Plant Parenthood Detroit, the local branch of a global community organization, she is cultivating a safe, stigma-free space for parents and parents-to-be to explore wellness, integration, and healing in ways that honor both mind and body.

Plant Parenthood Detroit offers integration circles, educational workshops, and peer-led support groups designed to meet parents where they are. Guided by principles of mindfulness, trauma-informed care, and cultural responsiveness, Shekita brings together doulas, mental health professionals, and community healers to create experiences that help parents grow their confidence, resilience, and sense of belonging.

With roots in Detroit’s vibrant community and inspired by her work with the Detroit Psychedelic Society and Wombs of the World, Shekita envisions Plant Parenthood Detroit as a hub for education, connection, and mutual aid. From perinatal mental health support to culturally-rooted parenting practices, the initiative is committed to reducing stigma, increasing access to resources, and celebrating the diverse ways families thrive.

Whether you’re expecting your first child, navigating postpartum, or seeking connection in parenthood, Plant Parenthood Detroit is here to help you plant seeds of wellness, love, and community that last a lifetime.
